Due to the higher volume of naturals growing everyday, I think that Hair relaxers are going down!! Just curious……. What do you think is the next trend(s) for the so called “Natural Hair Movement”?

Ysheena McCoy: Coloring definately. Im seeing many Naturals dabbling into it and as Tope Beesley said… if they dont know how to care for it… thier hair will break… I havent had an issue with breakage.. But honestly I wish I wouldnt have colored it in the first place.

Mirian Hubbard: Color! I’ve been considering dying my hair from time to time. Actually a rinse as I don’t want to damage my hair with those permanents hair relaxers.

Tope Beesley: heat is ok in moderation.blow dry on low or medium and flat iron 1-2 passes.and only do it 2-3 times a year maybe less oh and ample heat protector,dc before ant heat styling

Mirian Hubbard: Yeah people have been like it’s so long why don’t you get it straightened and I’ve been like uh no……..I’m not applying a flat iron to my soft hair….not ready for all of that. If you were referring to a hair relaxer when you said “touch up”…oh no way, I’m not going back to that!

Mirian Hubbard: But again I have thought about the what ifs….what if I did straighten it….thought about it, just not ready yet. I stick to my fro and pony tail….just need some new ways to mix it up.

Dawn Griffin: I forsee that a portion of natural women will go back to relaxers. I believe after some length is achieved they will go back to it. If not Hair relaxers, they will find ways to “loosen” their curl pattern and ways to straighten it.

Dawn Griffin: I love my hair so much! I decided to go natural when I didn’t even know that it was a “trend”. I live in New Mexico for crying out loud. I never know what’s going on, lol. My hair was so tore up from relaxers. I will not go back to hair relaxers again.

Jo Holcomb: Another prediction I have is that relaxers will go out the window, but weaves and lacefronts would replace them for people that were considering going back to relaxers. I wonder what would drive people to go back to relaxers after having progress and even so much support, acceptance, and knowledge that we are exposed to now. I hope that unlike the 70s/80s, more people stay natural after the “fad” subsides.

LaToya Swinson: -Arrington I think in time hair relaxers will get played out and then after that when a lot of people be walking around with long hair they going to want to show it off and straighten it and relaxers are going to come back.I know if that did happen I might just have to be the odd ball cause im natural for life!

Danielle Nicole Reed: I think I will be more and more of push on length because now there are people who are stuck on length but it’s ok to have short medium or long hair. But I think there will eventually be a divide on long vs. short haired naturals

Karen Hill Cooper: I have a lot of gray in the front. The rest is salt & pepper. I tried to color my hair. I knew it was a mistake, but I was trying to get a job. My hair was started falling out, looked I could make a Afro puff with it. I’m on medicine so it would fall out because of that. So now that I have went natural. My hair is stronger. I feel unique because of my gray and salt & pepper hair. I wouldn’t put heat in it also. I’m 49yrs now, but I orginally stopped coloring in my mid- 40′s. Other people have a problem with me not coloring my hair, but I don’t care. I will do what makes me happy.
